Hi, my name is Bruno.  I am going to start off by saying that I will try my best to keep a positive attitude while I tell you my story, but I just feel so sad sometimes, that it may be hard.

I came to the rescue when some humans found me running free and didn’t want to keep me.  I tried very hard to convince them that I was worth it, but hey, not everyone can keep every loose dog they find.  Not their fault that the *supposed* responsible party lets a dog get free without any way to be returned home, or in some cases, dumps a dog on purpose when they get tired of the responsibility.  Even dog lovers have their limits and only so many dogs can fit in one home.  Unfortunately, my timing wasn’t very good, and there was no room to keep me around.  My story is sad, but some of the stories that come through a rescue are just plain insane…people will bring in a dog in whom they have “lost interest” but flat out lie and say that they “found” the dog, in an attempt to avoid having to hear anything negative about their lack of responsibility.  They don’t care that something they once called a beloved pet or member of their family will sit in a pen, wondering what they did that was so wrong and deserving of abandonment.  Leaving that supposed “family member” to sit and stare as they walk off and never look back.  Pretty wimpy, huh?

Well, back to me.  I must say that I am so grateful to be somewhere safe, where I am well-cared for, but to be honest, I actually hate it here.  Wow, I hope that doesn’t make me sound like a spoiled brat, but I really am not doing very well with the adjustment the way that other dogs manage to do.  It makes me so sad to be alone, without a human and without a home of my own that I have lost my appetite.  The humans say I have lost a noticeable amount of weight since arriving, whatever that means.  They try their best to get me happier and more excited about food, but I just can’t help them out.  I know I am supposed to eat, but I just have no interest in it a lot of the time.  I get to thinking about what I am doing wrong, and why people are passing me over and choosing other dogs, and *boom* there goes what little appetite I may have had.

Not that all the dogs here aren’t great in their own ways, but I think I am pretty great too.  The humans guess that I am only about 1 or 2 years old.  I love humans and any attention I can get, I love to play with dogs, and from what they have seen so far, the humans think I can live with cats.  I want very badly to have a doggie room-mate while I wait for a home of my own, but when the humans have tried to give me a friend, the puppies have picked on me.  Kind of embarrassing, huh?  A big, strong boy like me, putting myself out there to make a new friend, and getting bossed around?  I take it well though, but I am still waiting for a friend, as well as for a Forever Home.  It is really depressing to be all alone in this big pen, watching humans and dogs come and go…oh boy, I need to stop talking about that…I can feel my appetite going away again.  And I promised I was going t try to be positive…can you see how hard that would be though, for such a lonely fellow?

Please come see me soon.  Even if you just have time to pet me and give me a cookie….your visit might just help me get my appetite back!

Waiting as patiently as I can,

Bruno
